Delirium is a sudden change in mental status that may occur in older adults at any time but especially during hospitalizations, after surgery, or anytime the environment around them changes.

Recent study published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) concludes that new use of benzodiazepines was associated with increased risk of dementia in older adults (age>65).

Recently, the Drug Enforcement Administration has proposed moving hydrocodone/acetaminophen products (i.e. Lortab, Vicodin) from Schedule III to Schedule II which would significantly impact the way these products are ordered, dispensed, and administered to LTC/PA patients.
