Ohio Hospital and Nurse Lose Negligence Lawsuit Over Contaminated IV

A patient dies due to improper IV handling. As reported in the article, Richard Elzay, 79, died in 2008 after developing an infection from his intravenous drip because a nurse failed to switch out the IV tube after the cap to the IV line became dislodged and fell on the floor.
