CPR a Link in the Chain of Survival
More than 380,000 Americans each year are assessed by EMS for sudden cardiac arrest. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a lifesaving technique that is used when helping someone who may have had a heart attack or stopped breathing. The chain of survival involves various participants from bystanders, family members, 911 dispatchers, pre-hospital care givers, hospital staff, to post hospital caregivers. Each person in the chain of events provides a variety of skills and responsibilities that adds to the chain of survival. A bystander who calls 911 to summon emergency assistance to a person who may have collapsed because of cardiac arrest potentially forms the first link in the chain of survival.

Everyone isn’t suited to provide care in a family situation or as a paid position. So what are the characteristics that an excellent caregiver has? I believe there are 5 core qualities an excellent caregiver possesses.
