About Pedagogy

How Pedagogy came about...
As a corporate nurse consultant for the 7 years prior to founding Pedagogy, Capra was traveling all over the state of Texas teaching traditional brick and mortar Infusion education courses to RN’s and LVN’s, mainly in the Long Term Care sector. During this time she witnessed the problems of delivering this type of classroom education: The facilities had trouble letting the nurse off for the 2-day course, finding nurses to cover the floor for patient care while nurses attended the course, keeping the nurses in the classroom the entire 8 hours per day, night-shift nurses that were too exhausted to learn, nurses that liked a fast pace, and nurses that liked a slow pace, just to name a few! When the idea of online IV education came to her, she was hesitant at first—initially thinking, “That is not how IV education is done!” She pondered about it some more and concluded that infusion education could certainly be presented in an online format, and the hands-on portion of the course would be completed with a preceptor at the student nurses' facility. Capra quit her corporate job to write courses—Pedagogy was officially incorporated in January of 2010, and the rest they say is history!

The Pedagogy Philosophy

Pedagogy is the art and science of teaching, instruction, and training. It is the goal of Pedagogy to offer the most current course content, with the highest possible quality, using a variety of education methods and strategies.

Attainment of licensure and formal education is not the end of education. Professionals, both practitioners, and educators are responsible for continually developing their knowledge and skills. Through continuing education and self-directed professional growth, health care providers are better prepared to deliver quality care to their patients.
